Antonio and the Thief

Once upon a time, there was a kind man named Antonio. He was very rich so he was respected in the city and he also distributes money among poor people. He also did not have to fear about the thieves because of the reason that one day a thief (who was probably the leader of the thieves in the area) came into his house to burgle it. He climbed up through a pipe and jumped in through an open window (it may be open to let some clean air to come in). Unfortunately, it was the room of Antonio. The thief walked slowly on the wooden floor of Antonio’s house. To the thief’s bad luck, it was rainy season and all the wood in the house had swollen up. As the thief walked some steps ahead, he stepped on a weaker wood, as a result, the wood broke and the thief’s leg sank into the ground. He was unable to pull his leg out of the hole.

As it was Antonio sleeping on the bed, listening the sound of breaking wood, his sleep broke and he woke up seeing aside. He saw a man lying beside him with his one leg sunken into the floor. He stood up from his bed quickly and moved towards the man. The thief was very frightened to see Antonio coming towards him. He thought that Antonio would beat him and give him away to the police. To the thief’s surprise, Antonio gave him a hand to let him come out of the hole. The thief was amazed to see that Antonio did not beat him or call the police. Instead he made the thief seated on the sofa and brought some medicines for him. The thief was astonished to the behavior of the rich man. Antonio applied some medicine on the thief’s leg and asked him if he feels better or not. The thief could not say any word as he was very shameful to know that the man he wanted to rob was such a kind man. He stood up from the sofa and lay down on the legs of Antonio. Antonio took himself aback as he was terrified to see the man suddenly coming on his feet. Then he stood up the man and asked him, “What are you doing”.  The man said,”You are a very kind person, you know that I had came to rob your house then also you didn’t call the police instead you helped me with your medicines”. After listening this, Antonio said that the man he saw was a man who needed help not the man who had came to rob him. After listening the kind words of Antonio, the thief was very embarrassed. He promised to Antonio that he would never rob any house after this and earn money by doing some job and would help him whenever he needed him. Antonio was happy to put a man on the right path. The thief told all his assistants that he was going to do a new job and ordered them not to rob Antonio’s house as he was a kind man.

After some days, Antonio was travelling in his city thinking of some financial faults in his business. He went away from his city and suddenly, he remembered that he was in a forest outside the city. The forest was tilted to one side. He could see only trees around him he turned himself back and looked up. He could see the canopy of the trees through which rays of sunlight were coming. The rays sparkled his eyes and he took a few steps back but for his bad luck, he stepped on a stone and rolled down the tilted side until he could reach the plain surface. When he stopped he saw himself lying down and his head in the direction of the sky.
